Commercial Structure Fire - Gleneden Beach

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on 9/15/2019, the Depoe Bay Fire District responded to a commercial structure fire after receiving multiple calls of “flames from the roof” at the Gleneden Beach Christian Church in Gleneden Beach. Reports indicated that the fire was rapidly spreading and the building was confirmed as vacant. Firefighters from Depoe Bay were assisted by crews from North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Newport Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office - Oregon, Pacific West Ambulance, Oregon State Police, and local service utility companies.

Firefighters worked aggressively to attack the stubborn fire which took over 3 hours to extinguish. In total, five engine companies, one ladder truck and three chief officers responded with support from the agencies listed above.

Firefighters were able to save a large section of the church. There were no injuries reported. Dollar loss and determination of cause is pending during the investigation. Crews from Depoe Bay Fire and Lincoln County Sheriff will remain on scene through the night until the Oregon State Fire Marshal and Lincoln County Fire Investigation Team assume the scene tomorrow morning.
