Salishan Lodge Remains Open after Minor Fire

Depoe Bay Fire responded to a reported chimney fire at Salishan Lodge in Gleneden Beach at 7:13 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Upon arrival crews found fire on the roof around the chimney. Fire suppression was initiated, and mutual aid was requested from North Lincoln Fire Rescue and Newport Fire Department. In total, 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 rescue, and 4 chief officers responded with a total of 21 firefighters on scene.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. Crews then performed operations to check for fire spread and then covered the affected area to prevent further damage. The fire was confined to an area around the chimney of about 10 feet by 30 feet. All crews cleared the scene shortly after 10 pm.

There were no injuries reported. The dollar loss is not yet available. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Salishan Lodge remains fully open for business.
